Seniors Go Skiing

The Senior Snow Trip with Bayer T-Shirts posing in pristine Perisher SnowThis week the Senior students travelled to Perisher Blue to spend 3 days skiiing in the beautiful Snowy Mountains. The weather was wet on the first day, but cleared on the second and third days to become perfect skiing weather. The students had a fantastic time skiiing and snow-boarding. The parents and teachers who attended also enjoyed themselves and were thankful when everyone arrived home safely with no injuries. We thank everyone who assisted with the camp, including: James and Jenny Higgs, Steve and Fiona Carroll, Wayne and Jo Wiltshire and Mat Wallace. We also thank Bayer, who kindly gave us some community sponsorship money and released Mat Wallace from work commitments to assist in the supervision and mentoring of our students during the trip. Thanks Bayer! Much appreciated.
The Senior Snow Trip was a highlight of the year. It will be long remembered - particularly the futile attempts of our snow-boarding boys to beat the teachers to the bottom of the mountain in the official speed race. It was lots of fun.

Wild and Woolly Weekend

The June long weekend was a wild and stormy few days. Many of our families experienced house flooding, interruption to basic services and damage to cars and other things. One family were even stranded overnight in the centre of Newcastle. We thank God for his care of our families during this period. There were no injuries. Even though we could not commence school on Tuesday, things are back to normal now. The tree that came down on the school building caused only very minor damage and everything is now running smoothly. Thanks to everyone for their support, and thank you to our heavenly father for His daily care.

Principals Meeting At Avoca

The Heritage College Principals had a Conference at Avoca Beach on June 1-3. The Conference is an annual event that takes place around June each year, and provides an opportunity for The Principals of Heritage Colleges around Australia to visit the other schools and discuss issues relevant to all of our schools and students. The Principals in attendance were Stuart Gilmore from Sydney HC, Steve Higgs from Perth HC, Andrew Johns from Adelaide HC and Simon Dodson from Cooranbong HC. Their wives, Val, Nola, Kathy and Priscilla, also attended. Everyone felt the occasion was most profitable.

The next Conference is planned for Perth in June 2008, God willing.
